Coronary
Heart Disease is predicted by Erectile Dysfunction
24 January, 2006
According to investigators, erectile
dysfunction (ED) is an independent predictor of
severe coronary heart disease among men suspected of
cardiovascular disease. The finding suggests that questioning
about sexual function may be a useful tool in stratifying
risk and identifying patients for aggressive risk factor
modification or treatment.
The research team studied 221 men with an average age
of 58.6, who were referred for stress myocardial perfusion
single photon emission computed tomography, or MPS,
a non-invasive imaging modality that assists in making
a diagnosis of coronary heart disease and stratification
of cardiovascular risk. The patients were prospectively
screened for erectile dysfunction, using a validated
questionnaire, the researchers reported.
ED can be treated with the help of ED pills and generic
ED pills under the proper guidance of a doctor.
