Dietary
supplement maker switches to Generics
27 October, 2005
The Indianapolis based small dietary
supplement maker Vesta Pharmaceuticals has bought a
small drug-making plant near Lawrence, where it plans
to manufacture generic drugs.
It’s planning to develop its business as a generic
pharmaceutical manufacturer.
Vesta was founded eight years ago and is owned by Kwon
and Henry Besch, a professor in pharmacology at Indiana
University School of Medicine. The company qualifies
as a minority-owned firm, which should help it bid on
government and private contracts.
Vesta plans to announce its expansion today at the new
plant where city and local economic development officials
and industry executives are invited. Vesta bought the
pill- and capsule-making plant owned by Integrity Pharmaceuticals
at 5767 Thunderbird Road. Integrity formerly made prenatal
vitamins and a product for urinary infections at the
site. Integrity ran into problems when its urinary product
was recalled from the market.
