Generic
drugmaker Teva comes to India

Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd,
the world's largest generic
drug company, has set up a new research and development
(R&D) centre in Noida, New Delhi. The company is
operating through its wholly owned subsidiary, Regent
Drugs Ltd that it acquired in 2003. The centre in Noida
would start with 60 scientists that would go up to 125
in three to four years duration
Teva is also planning to partner with Indian firms
for biotechnology and conducting clinical research.
India plays an important part in the development programs
of Teva and it’s looking at collaborations with
Indian companies in clinical programs and cutting edge
scientific areas like biotechnology. The alliance or
partnerships with Indian companies will be in new areas
apart from their traditional stronghold of CNS drugs.
