Generic
drugs could help save millions
08 December, 2005
According to a recent study, common
people, consumers, employers and health plans in much
of upstate New York can save more than $880 million
by increasing use of generic prescription drugs. Those
potential savings would be generated if all 39 counties
in western, central and northern New York turn to generic
drugs instead of the prescription drugs.
As health care costs have continued to rise, health
plans have been giving consumers inducements to use
generic drugs through offering lower co-payments on
such medicines. This has increased the use of generic
drugs by about 50 percent as most of the prescriptions
dispensed now are for non-branded products.
Erectile dysfunction
(ED) generic drugs are of immense help in treating ED
or impotence. Due to their cheaper price, people can
afford them quite easily. ED generic drugs such as Caverta
and Silagra are capable of treating ED as efficiently
as a branded one.
