Illegal
erectile dysfunction drug seized in UK
02 December, 2005
Illegal erectile
dysfunction (ED) drug worth around £25,000
has been seized in a house raid by the Cleveland Police
and officers from a Government drug agency in the Seaton
Carew area of town, and recovered 5,000 tablets of Kamagra
- a generic version of Viagra
which is unlicensed in the UK.
Computer equipment was also seized
in the raid, which follows an investigation by the Medicines
and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). MHRA
officers had discovered that medication was being sold
from the Hartlepool house via the internet after tracing
the source of the drug from a website. Officers from
the MHRA warn that Kamagra could affect people with
heart problems if taken without medical supervision.
They also said that suppliers regularly place other
ingredients in the tablets.
