New plan to make generic drugs cheaper and more available
17 October, 2006
Americans working at smaller companies
that don't offer drug coverage may get a break. One
of the country's largest prescription benefit management
firms is coming out with a low-cost generic
drug plan aimed at those companies.
Medco Health Solutions says it'll offer the "Generics
First" plan through its partner health insurance
firms. It'll offer workers generic drugs for as little
as ten bucks for a 90-day mail order supply. The plan
covers more than 800 medications.
Medco's announcement comes on the heels of Wal-Mart
and Target offering 30 days' worth of generic drugs
for four dollars in their Florida stores.
